Downtime when a client is trying to reference my site is completely unacceptable. Downtime in the middle of the working day is completely unacceptable. Even scheduled downtime for upgrades as often as you have it is still unacceptable. More than a four-hour response time for support requests is unacceptable.
It is clear to me that MediaTemple is in need of a notice:
Dear MediaTemple,
I give your hosting reliability and support a rating of POOR.
That is all.
I'm open to looking for a new hosting provider. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Update
Receiving a canned email response to my support ticket is not a way to subdue my anger. Customer service fail.

You should check out http://webfaction.com. I've never had any downtime.
It was rather ironic that (mt) just emailed customers, requesting feedback on the previous year. Let's just say I didn't have that many good things to say this year, so its apparent something has changed.
Also, I looked at WebFaction, but its shared hosting and simply doesn't cut it for me. Any other good hosts out there, they all seem to suck lately!
I'm on Slicehost now! I've also heard decent things about Linode, but don't have any personal experience with them.
I dont see why MT is good. I used them and they sucked. A friends friend works their and said their internal systems are garbage and its only luck everything is running.
I use 1&1 and I dig them.
I've used dedicated servers from both ManageMyBox.com and Kimsufi.co.uk (run by French company OVH), and both have had fantastic uptimes. Currently my main email/web server (with the first ones) has an uptime of 407 days, and my primary OVH box is sitting at 199 days, both according to external monitoring services.
I highly recommend them both.
Dedicated servers were the best thing I ever went for after my disastrous relationship with (mt).
Good luck in choosing a new provider!
