Awesome Form was, well, pretty awesome. For any of you CSS nerds out there, you understand how difficult it can be to quickly and effectively markup long forms and still have them be logical and accessible. Awesome Form was my solution.

I used Awesome Form for a few years, and it really made those long registration forms a lot less work. But I‘ve since found myself requiring the need for long, complex form solutions dwindling. Possibly because I do more design and less HTML these days, or possibly because I actually design my forms now.

Since the last time I updated the CSS, I‘ve noticed that there are a few errors in it with Safari 3 and the Firefox 3 betas. But it‘s still there and free to use. Go ahead and download it, but I am no longer supporting it.

  1. I had contacted you personally about a Firefox 3 beta problem (shifting the first field on the page or the entire form way too the right). The problem was fixed in the FF3 release. And I don't see any problems with Safari's 3 release, so Awesomeform lives on for a few more years!

  2. I'm still waiting to see a *good* implementation of a multi-column, css-only form. To this date, I have not seen any good ones. Most of the forms that have multiple columns use a LOT of css just to get the positioning right. I'm half tempted to switch back to tables for the form layout. It's so much simpler, and the results are far more consistent across different browsers.

  3. Ivan, Awesome Form is pretty lightweight, coming in at about 3KB or less. The thing about CSS that I think you're forgetting to realize is that most browsers will download it once and cache it. If you are doing all of that in your HTML markup, the browser will re-request and download that information again.
