The Web is evolving, and with all of the transitions in my personal and professional life in the last year, I feel like my site fell behind during the version 5 run. There were actually two iterations of v5: v5.0 and v5.7. Yeah… I skipped around a bit.

Left Behind

Version 5.0 was a placeholder site. I was at a point where I needed to get something up and it needed to be up fast. The previous version wasn’t cutting it and there was no time to lose, so v5 was given a premature launchulation. After things settled down for me again, I got cracking at v5 to bring it to what it was intended to be. I was happy with it. Well, happy until I realized that the rest of the Web evolved past me while I was trying to catch up.

Evolution

Over the past month, Paul Armstrong Designs has grown an extra set of everything. It has evolved. Evolved into extra subtle user interaction… Evolved into using HTML Canvas animation… Evolved past the use of
Internet Explorer 6.

That’s right: Internet Explorer 6 is no longer supported. Internet Explorer 7 performs acceptably, but fails in a few key areas that really push the boundaries of perfection for me. But I’m okay with all of this. If you’re not, then you must be using IE6, and that’s quite unfortunate for you.

For those of you power users on Firefox 3, Safari or Google Chrome: check out the canvas animation on the home page… I said that right: there’s no Flash® there!

Into the Future

There’s a lot going on with this site and more to come soon, so let me know what you think!
